the lemonade stand kit

In 2019, while working in private wealth management, I designed and produced a financial literacy learning tool. The aim of this "Lemonade Stand" Kit is to facilitate conversations between clients, typically business-owners, and their children.

Since a lemonade stand is often a child's first encounter with entrepreneurship and business-planning, this tool is designed to teach children lessons and skills that can be applied to starting a small business of their own.

The kit contains a trifold "parent guide," activity pages, and step-by-step business planning cards, designed to act as a "business timeline." While some children may take 5 days to complete the steps, others can condense the steps, depending on the child(ren)'s age and learning style.

The activities include "Guess the Cost: An Exercise in Budgeting," where the participant plans out their grocery list and estimates the cost of each ingredient. After shopping, the child compares their guessed costs to the actual costs on their receipt, recording whether they were over or under budget.

"Nutrition Facts" label for the back of the Lemonade Stand carton, itemizing the contents of the kit and the "% Daily Value" kit goals such as Entrepreneurship and Collaboration.
